Bhatkal: The soap mela begun at the Bhatkal Urban Bank Hall today, this will go on from 9th August to 16th August.

The event was inaugurated by Shivanand Naik. Addressing the audience he said that KS & DL is government company and everyone should co operate for its progress. He said that the company had incurred loss from a past few years, but their dedication and hard work and introduction of various new products made it come back on the track. He said that their products have a very big market especially in Gulf countries. He informed that their products are of pure veg origin. ‘This year our target is 320 crore business transaction’, he added.

Bhatkal MLA J D Naik presided over the function and said that everyone should come forward to support the cause because it is a govt company. He called upon the media, specially the Urdu media to highlight the exhibition, so that the Muslims of Bhatkal come to know about the event and visit the exhibition and get the knowledge about the products.

Inayatullah Shabandari, TMC chief suggest that same kind of exhibition be organized in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. The Muslims do not preferably use the products with animal origin, except that the animal products are got through halaal means. So the Mysore sandal and other products would get good response in Muslim countries since their products are of pure vegetable origin and are halaal.

Pashunath Jain, Taluka Panchayat president, Ashok Nayak, Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner, Councillor Krishna Naik, KS & DL Managing Director Yashwant Rao and others were present for the event.
