Karwar: Block Congress Committee (BCC) members took out a protest march in Karwar demanding the ban on Hindu Jagarana Vedike and handing over of the Mangalore attack case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The activists who reached the office of Deputy Commissioner entered the compound of the office by pushing the policemen who tried to block their entry. Later, BCC President Deepak Vaingankar submitted a memorandum to Assistant Commissioner Vijay Mahantesh in this regard.
He said that the attacks on students by right-wing activists were an insult to society. The Sangh Parivar had murdered the democratic life of the people by resorting to moral policing, he added.
The memorandum whis was addressed to the Governor, condemned the act of assault on women and stated that the people who attacked a pub in Mangalore in 2009 were responsible for attack on women at the home stay. It also alleged that the Sangha Pariwar instigated the members of Hindu outfits to attack on the home stay.
Congress leaders Arvind Tendulkar, Prabhakar Malsekar, Shambhu Shetty, Chandrakant Kharvi, NandkishorNaik, Nagaveni Pavuskar, Jayamala Kolankar and others led the protest.
