Karwar: Health check-up of primary and secondary schoolchildren in Uttara Kannada under Suvarna Arogya Chaitanya Shaala health programme would be held from August 1 to 31. All students, from class 1 to 10 would be eligible for it, said Inkongla Jameer, Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada.

Presiding over the meeting of the officials in Karwar on Monday, Ms. Jameer said that the schools in rural as well as urban areas should avail of the benefit of the scheme. Revanasiddappa, Deputy Director of Public Education, said that the programme would being simultaneously in all the taluks of Uttara Kannada and the doctors of the respective primary health centres would visit the schools. The programme would be conducted jointly by the education and the health departments with the co-operation of different social organizations and doctors having IMA membership and the public representatives.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, District Health Officer, said that a check-up card would be issued to all students after the check-up.
Two teachers in each primary health centre would be given training about school health programme. By Tuesday, a list would be released to inform the date and time of the doctors’ visit to schools, he said. Pamphlets would be published with help of the Block Education Officers to create awareness among the students about this programme, he said.
