Lokayukta raids taluk office in Mangalore
Mangalore: The Lokayukta police trapped a surveyor when he was receiving Rs. 2,000 as bribe here on Wednesday. Lokayukta police officer C.E. Thimmaiah told reporters that Shanmugappa, a surveyor at the Taluk Survey Office here, had asked Rs. 2,000 from Nagaraj Bhat of Katapady village to prepare a sketch of the land owned by him on July 24. But Mr. Bhat, who did not want to pay the bribe, lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police on Wednesday morning. The Lokayukta police trapped Mr. Shanmugappa at the survey office. He was produced before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody till August 1, Mr. Thimmaiah said.
