Udupi: The members of Udupi district unit of Campus Front of India (CFI) staged a dharna here on Tuesday against the foisting of false cases against the president of State unit of Campus Front of India (CFI) Mohammed Tufail, innocent students, and local people by the Governing Council of Sri Ramakunjeshwara First Grade College at Ramakunja village in Dakshina Kannada district over the headscarf row.

Speaking on the occasion, president of district unit of CFI Farhan Honnalla said many prestigious educational institutions in Dakshina Kannada admitted women students wearing headscarves. It was compulsory for women to wear headscarf in Muslim religion.

Not allowing the students to wear the headscarf was a violation of their fundamental right.

It was tantamount to an assault on the religious belief of students, he added.
