Karwar: The district SP must have surely spoken about the decrease in the crime rate in the district for past six months in his report, but when we take a look at the report for the past three years, it is revealed that among 40 cases of robbery and dacoit which took place in the district in past three years, not more than 11 cases have been solved so far.

According to the report released by the SP, in the year 2010 alone, 21 murder cases, 2 dacoit and 17 robberies had been registered, among which 20 murder cases and 2 dacoit cases have been solved, but only four among the seventeen robbery cases were worked out.

For the year 2011, 26 murder cases, 2 dacoits and 17 robberies were filed, among which fortunately all the 26 murders and both the dacoit cases had been resolved. But even here as less as three among the eleven robbery cases reached its solutions.

So if we consider the above statics, it is clear that only a very few cases of theft and robberies are solved by the police in the past two years.

Coming to past six months, as many as 13 cases of theft and robberies were registered with police, among which only 4 had been solved so far.

Thus, taking into account the report for three years, it can be noted that among the total of 40 cases of theft and robberies that had been registered in the district till July 2012, only 11 have been worked out.
