Bhatkal: Bhatkal Tahsildar Dr Madhukeshwar, visited Heble village and inspected the areas affected by sea erosion.

People of Bailur, Mavalli, Kaikini, Bengre, Alvekodi, Jaali, Tenginagundi and Mundalli in Bhatkal taluk are facing the threat of losing their houses and other property because of sea erosion.
Roads in Heble, particularly at Heratar and Jaali, have been damaged.
People of Heble have been spending sleepless nights fearing that seawater may enter their houses any moment.

They said that these villages would be cut off from Bhatkal if steps were not taken to prevent sea erosion. Roads would soon be washed away by huge waves.
They said except dumping of boulders along some beaches, no work had been taken to prevent sea erosion along the coast from Ullal to Majali near Karwar by the Government. The -green wall- concept of planting saplings to prevent sea erosion should be adopted, they said.
Local elected representatives urged that the Government should find a solution to contain sea erosion immediately.
The tahsildar promised the people that action would be taken to protect their houses and property.
Adequate compensation would be given to those who had lost their houses and property because of sea erosion, he said.
