Kundapur: President of Udupi district unit of Janata Dal (Secular) Deviprasad Shetty said on Saturday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of cheating the Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty by denying him a Ministerial berth.
Mr. Deviprasad Shetty, who was addressing the District JD(S) Committee meeting here, said Mr. Srinivas Shetty was known as a decent and transparent politician across Udupi district. Mr. Srinivas Shetty was also considered as a role-model as an MLA in the State.
People considered him as a sincere and honest person. But Mr. Srinivas Shetty was in the wrong party.
Hence he had been cheated by the BJP. -If Mr. Srinivas Shetty decides to join the JD(S), we will welcome him into our party,- he said. Mr. Deviprasad Shetty said the BJP Government had failed totally in providing a stable Government and development had taken a beating. Both the Congress and the BJP were steeped in corruption and were least bothered about the welfare of the people. The BJP would face defeat in the coastal Karnataka.
The JD(S) would get a massive victory in the next Assembly elections, he said. It was incumbent upon the JD(S) workers to work for the victory of the party. Many influential leaders from Congress and BJP would be joining JD(S) shortly and they were in constant touch with H.D. Kumaraswamy.
All committees of the JD(S) at the district-level had been disbanded.
New committees would be formed at the block and district-level after consulting workers in all Assembly constituencies, Mr. Deviprasad Shetty said.
