Bhatkal: Students of RNS Polytechnic College, Murdeshwar, on Friday, threatened to sit on an indefinite strike in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Karwar, if the State Technical Education Board fails to stick on to the old carryover system for diploma examinations.

The students who had come to Karwar from Murdeshwar said the technical board allowed carryover system for 10 subjects in diploma courses last year.

But the rule was suddenly changed and only four subjects were included in the system this year.

This led to confusion among students and many of them would lose a precious year.

The change of syllabus too has led them to confusion. The old carryover system should be reintroduced, the students said.

They threatened to go on hunger strike if the board sticks to the new carryover system. The tahsildar received the memorandum and assured the students that it would be forwarded to the Government.

It can be recalled that the students of Government Polytechnic College, Karwar, had protested on the same issue on Thursday.
