Bhatkal: A bike rider died on the spot in an accident between a bike and a lorry which took place on the National Highway near the Mood Bhatkal bypass at around 2pm on Thursday. The VRL lorry was on the way from Hubli when the accident took place.
The accident scene reveals that the lorry was on the verge of overtaking another vehicle when it crushed the bike coming from opposite direction. The accident was so intense that the bike and the rider both got stuck under the lorry, before the lorry came to halt at the other side of the road.

The deceased has been identified as Ram Chandra Masti Naik aged 32 years. He was employed at the grocery store of Anantha at Marikatta, Bhatkal, and was known among people.
The lorry driver fled from the spot after the accident. Town PSI Prakash Devadiga and associates visited the accident spot. The place was crowded with the local public to witness the scene.
The dead body was taken to the Bhatkal Government Hospital for the post mortem.
A case has been registered with the Bhatkal town police station.
