Sirsi: The police arrested two persons involved in temple and Choudi Katte theft cases and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 3.25 lakh.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday Additional Superintendent of Police of Uttara Kannada district Subhash Gudimani said, the accused Shekhar Bomma Gowda Mudebail and parameshwar Kanna Pille were caught when they were moving in suspicious manner at Bidaki Bail here in Sirsi.
Along with the two arrested, accused Soori, Ramu and Yaseen, were involved in 13 different theft cases in the jurisdiction of Sirsi sub-division. Steps have been taken to arrest the remaining three persons who had involved in the crimes, he stated.
On enquiry the accused said that they had given ornaments collected from theft cases to a person named Ravi. The police recovered 122 gm gold ornaments and 240 gm silver ornaments from the accused. In the beginning, six such cases had been registered in police station and the department had formed investigation squad to trace out the thieves. Superintendent of Police K T Balakrishna has announced special prize to the employees of the department, he said.
