Mangalore: Efforts by Railway Yatri Sangha, Udupi has resulted in railway authorities taking steps to ensure that train No. 16516 Karwar-Yeshwantpur day train via Mangalore Central reaches Yeshwantpur at 10 pm. At present the train reaches the station at 10.45 pm or 11 pm. This train used to stop at Mangalore Central, Sakleshpur, Hassan and Arsikere station enroute for more than the allotted duration, delaying its arrival at Yeshwantpur station.

RL Dias, the president of the Sangha stated the delay caused problems to elderly and women passengers who would reach Bangalore at a late hour. -Since the train has no sleeping accommodation for passengers, long hours of journey for those commuting from Karwar to Yeshwantpur left them fatigued. This was happening mainly due to crossing preference of the railway authorities to other trains Arsikere station,- he added.

Likewise, the departure timings of train No. 16518 Kannur-Mangalore Central-Yeshwantpur train from Mangalore Central railway station has changed. The train which earlier reached Mangalore Central from Kannur at 7:15 pm and departed at 7:45 pm will now arrive at Mangalore Central at 6:55 pm and leave there at 7:20 pm. Dias urged all commuters using the train to make note of the changed departure timings.
