Mangalore: Coastal Development Authority (CDA) chairman B Nagaraj Shetty on Thursday said that the state government had sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the construction of foot bridges in Daskhina Kannada and Udupi districts.

Addressing media person he said that CDA had submitted a proposal to the government in 2011 to build 430 footbridges at a cost of Rs 15 crore in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts. -In the first phase 140 footbridges will be constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore. The project has been handed over to zilla panchayats for implementation,- he added.
He also said that authority would submit another proposal to chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda to construct a two-lane concrete road from Talapady to Karwar. To rehabilitate families in the Naxal-hit areas like Kudremukh, Belthangady and Karkala, a Rs 100 crore special package will be given by CDA. Soon we will discuss the issue with Union Minister Jairam Ramesh,- he added.
