Bhatkal: “Today, India is not interested in religious violence, intolerance, or terrorism. We are on path of growth and development and are heading towards overtaking the United States and Europe in next ten to twenty years. To reach the goal f development we have to go hand-in-hand and shoulder-to-shoulder and bring prosperity into our country, said Mr. SM Syed Khalil, President, Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, Bhatkal and the chairman of SahilOnline, while speaking in a get-together function organized by Rabita Society Bhatkal, the representative organization of Bhatkali Muslim NRIs held at Kazia Hasan Hall of Rabita society to bring together the Muslim and Hindu communities to settle the misunderstandings existing regarding one another.



Distinguished NRI, Mr. Syed Khalil further said that the section of local media is tarnishing the image of Bhatkal through its unauthentic and misleading reports. He said that local police forces also not cooperative to maintain the good image of the town and is not acting responsibly. However, he complemented the IGP (western range), state DGP and district SP for acting responsibly on various occasion.

Mr. Khalil said that the efforts of the brining the community together should not be one-sided, and urged that if in one year the function is conducted by Muslim community, it should be organized by the Hindu community in the subsequent years.

Speaking on the occasion, formar state minister, Mr. Shivanand Naik, said that the communal riots of the town have not benefitted anyone. He said that there exist some bad elements in every society, which weakens the society. He said that these bad elements of the society should keep at bay.


While appreciating the courtesy of Bhatkali people, former MLA of Bhatkal and BJP leader Shivanand Naik said that despite his being from BJP, the Bhatkali people had invited him to Dubai and greatly honored him there, which persuaded him to have good relations and contacts with the people of other communities and to work with them.

He added that there were some selfish and greedy politicians which are working for spoiling the peaceful environment of the town, about whom everyone should have to be aware of.


Speaking on the occasion, Bhatkal MLA Mr. JD Naik said that the government officers should have to perform their duty properly and should have to act on justifiably without any prejudice. He appreciated the efforts of Rabita society for working to bring the two communities together.

The Hindu Muslim Get-together program of Rabita society begins with the recitation of verses of Holy Quran, by Muhammad Tarique Akrami and Kannada translation by Mr. Riyaz Ron. The secretary of Rabita Society, Moulana Maula Karani presented the welcome speech. Mr. SJ Sayed Hashim presented the introduction of Rabita Society. President of Rabita Mr. Abdullah Lanka presided over the function. Mr. Fazlur Rahman Jukaku and Abdur Rahman Siddiqui anchored the function. The program concluded with the dinner and the Dua by Moulana Maula Karani.
