Puttur: The Bangalore-Mangalore train today reached the coastal city four hours late owing to landslide at Yedakumeri amid heavy monsoon showers.

The train was withheld at Yedakumeri in the Western Ghat section of the railway line, in the early hours today, after the landslides posed grave danger to the movement of the train.

Rocks and soil got heaped on the railway tracks in Yedakumeri after the landslide that occurred in yesterday night . As a result, passengers got stranded in Yedakumeri for several hours. The train finally continued its journey in afternoon after the track was cleared.

The passengers, who were to attend urgent works or attend functions in the city, were seen trying to seek alternative transport arrangements to reach their destinations. While it was hard to get any transport in the Ghat section of Yedakumeri, non-availability of food has complicated the passenger's problems.

Meanwhile, the low lying areas Adake, Nattibail, Kutale and Daddu areas in Puttur taluk were flooded due to heavy rain since last night. The water at Netravathy River here was flowing at 22 mt as against the danger level of 26 mt. However, no casualty or loss was reported so far.
