Haliyal: Scores of dengue and Chikungunya cases were reported from Tergaun village in Haliyal taluk. However, no steps have been taken by the panchayat officials and health department to check the spread of epidemics. The panchayat has literally failed to take up cleanliness drive in the village. One could see heaps of garbage lying on the roads and uncleared garbage bins and gutters making it the most conducive place for the mosquitoes to breed over.
On Thursday, MLA Sunil Hegde took the officials to task for failing to maintain the village clean and hygienic. He cautioned the officials of dire consequences if they fail to monitor the cleanliness drive.
Later, he visited various layouts in the village and expressed dissatisfaction over the shoddy work of the officials. The villagers complained that, no cleanliness drive was launched in the village. Moreover as the gutters were filled...
